Solfeto

Terms of use

Last changed on 9 October 2026.

These are the terms for using Solfeto, an ear training app for iPhone, published by Hubertus Putu Widya Primanta Nugraha, in Indonesia, called the publisher below. Using the app means accepting them. They are short on purpose.

The app itself

Apple’s standard licence for apps bought on the App Store covers your right to install and use Solfeto. It is at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. These terms add to it and do not replace it.

What Solfeto is, and what it is not

Solfeto trains absolute pitch recognition: hearing a tone and naming it, with no reference note. It follows a method from two published studies. It does not promise a result, and neither did they.

In the 2025 study most participants learned about 7 pitches. Two learned all twelve. Results vary.

It is practice, not medical advice and not a hearing test. Keep the volume where it is comfortable.

Your account

You need an account to use Solfeto, so that your progress is saved. Keep your way of signing in to yourself. One account is for one person.

If you join the weekly league you choose a handle, which other learners see. Do not choose one that is abusive, that is somebody else’s name, or that pretends to be Solfeto. A handle that is any of those may be removed, and the account with it if it is done again. To report a handle, press it in the league table, or write to [email protected].

What is free and what is paid

Signing in, the introduction and the baseline are free. Everything after the baseline is a subscription, by the month or by the year, bought through Apple and tied to your Apple account. The app shows both prices, in your currency, before you choose.

A new subscriber has the first 7 days free. If you cancel within those days, nothing is charged. If you do not, Apple charges the price you were shown when the 7 days end, and again at the end of every month or every year, until you cancel.

You cancel in your Apple account settings, under Subscriptions, at least a day before the next renewal. In the app, Settings has a row that opens them. You keep what you have paid for until the end of the period it covers. Deleting the app, or deleting your Solfeto account, does not cancel a subscription. Only cancelling it with Apple does.

Apple takes the payment and Apple handles refunds, at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something about the subscription went wrong and Apple cannot help, write to [email protected].

Your data

The privacy page at solfeto.com/privacy says what is kept and how to delete it. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app.

The sounds and the type, and who made them

The piano you hear is the Salamander Grand Piano by Alexander Holm, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence, creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0. Each note was rendered, tuned and shortened for Solfeto. The guitar is the Spanish classical guitar recorded for the FreePats project, which its author placed in the public domain. The type is Instrument Sans, under the Open Font License, and the icons are Lucide, under the ISC licence.

Changes, and stopping

The app changes: features are added, altered and sometimes removed. A price can change too. Apple tells you before a change reaches a subscription you already have, and asks you first where the law says it must.

You can stop at any time: cancel the subscription with Apple, delete your account, and remove the app. They are three separate things, and the first is the one that stops the charges. An account used to abuse the league or to interfere with the service may be closed.

Responsibility

Solfeto is provided as it is. Care is taken over it, and it will still have faults. As far as the law allows, the publisher is not liable for loss that follows from using it or from not being able to. Nothing here takes away a right the law of your own country gives you as a consumer.

Which law

These terms are under the law of Indonesia, where the publisher is established, except where the law of the country you live in gives you rights that cannot be signed away.
